My laptop screen is broken and needs to be fixed.
Do I need to delete the data and apps on it before I send the laptop in for repair?

You would have to back up your private data… You can't make a backup of the programs so easily… If some are gone you have to make them anew
Take out the plate.
You could connect a normal screen to your laptop, copy the things you need and delete the rest so that nobody can access your things.
Or you could remove the hard drive before you send it in for repair, you don't need a hard drive to see if the screen you have installed works
I would generally copy everything you need and what is important to you because you never know whether they will delete the files for whatever reason
so better play it safe before it's all gone
