SSD from notebook to PC?

Since my laptop putted (probably CPU heat death) I wanted to put the M.2 SSD, which is still working, from my laptop into my new mini PC, an Intel Nuc (there's no RAM and memory installed). All my data from my laptop including Windows 10 are on the hard drive.

Just wanted to ask if it works and if I should format the hard drive?

Don't format, your data must still be there.

It works if it's an M.2 PCIE Nvme SSD. If Sata M.2 then not.
