As you can see in the title, there's a discussion topic.
"Politicians demand: schools must become modern - laptops for every student"!
I need two arguments for and against.
And a dialectical discussion. (Introduction…) (i don't know what that is)
Pro (yes you should have laptops) =
for homeschooling (in pandemics like the current one, a laptop is mandatory)
Protection of the environment (less paper, since school books can also be loaded onto the laptops)
Contra
Costs (not everyone can afford it)
Certain prerequisites (e.g. Wi-Fi must be met in order to work on the internet at school)
All you have to do is spell it out
Per:
The school has to move with the times, the IT program has to be taken seriously.
Fast flow of information.
Homeschooling can be offered when things like Corona happen.
Cons:
If the state wants that, you have to cover the costs + Wi-Fi at home! That will take a long time!
At the moment it is very expensive for parents with one child where there are parents with 2 or 3 children.
Since many countries (schools) use Apple products, they promote unfair working conditions.
(if you have decided to do so you should take a Euro product and thus promote the work here)
The implementation will be very difficult, the teachers and the students will be overloaded.
Pro => The work itself is easier, more convenient, more productive, more effective, etc.
"Protection of the environment" - whether a laptop, which is replaced every 5 years, uses fewer resources than the school books during this time, you have to calculate first. In addition, digitization requires the corresponding hinterland: Internet connections, servers, IT departments, etc., which also need all the resources and energy.
Before there can be "laptops for everyone", the infrastructure must first be set up. The official school websites are a disaster, the servers are overloaded, video conferencing via the tools instructed by the school does not work, many teachers are not familiar with them. A flood of laptops is of no use at all!
Cons:
Digital idiocy - we once had a teacher. He said. You learn a lot better if you copy this off the board. Back then there were no computers like today. But maybe there's something to it. As if you just press the button on the PC and download your document. So the student has to look much more closely and learn in my opinion.
An infrastructure must also be created in the schools if problems or disruptions occur. Teachers can't do that. So an IT administration must be created. Are we back to the costs.
Definitely not more productive. Otherwise questions would not be constantly asked here (meaning of words, math) that you would have understood if you had just copied it. You may not be aware of that.
If you work conscientiously with the iPad and use it intelligently to learn, then I would say yes. You are now starting from the "Student does not write" case, which can also be with leaves.
That someone at school doesn't write down on paper… That would have caused us trouble. Or, it was later COPIED by someone else. And have to work with your head again.
With Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V or I send a mail it is absolutely not comparable.
Although it's not just the iPad, everything is different too. Someone who writes of conscientious work. That sounds like the A student. That might work there.
Of course that's true. For me, for example, it is simply more productive for the reason that I'm 10000 times more motivated to make the notes &, above all, to make them beautiful, because with an iPad I also have the opportunity to do that with colors etc. Design (even if you are not artistically gifted or creative).
