I have a monitor 144hz (benq zowie xl2411P) and a laptop of over 300 fps in csgo no worries.
just wanted to ask because my laptop has no display port input so I can connect the 2 (has only one HDMI), I could possibly buy an active adapter? Found a wanted to ask only obs would work: hdmi 2.0 to displayport

I bought the same monitor and can only recommend you simply buy an HDMI cable
You can't create 144Hz with HDMI, that only goes up to 120Hz.
Have a hdmi cable but hdmi support no 144hz except 2.0 but then your graka and your monitor must have the 2.0 port
