Can downloads stop due to memory usage?

Sometimes when I download something, the download stops and I can download everything from scratch. That always happens to me on my old laptop, which has 4 GB of RAM and an i3 processor from 2013 I think. Are these download interruptions mostly caused by the system or the download provider?

Ma

Download interruptions are almost always due to the Internet or hardware / drivers (WLAN).

That's why I find torrents so useful because you don't have to repeat everything again if the download is aborted

With WLAN, it no longer connects after a while, the part is no longer that new, so it is always connected to the Internet with the Ethernet cable, but it still breaks, but at least the Internet connection does not. I don't have the problem with the new laptop.

Not because of the RAM, but the download is also cached on the hard drive. It can of course get full. If you cancel, the temporarily used memory will be deleted.

But it could also be due to the internet connection. Especially if you download something at night, your router can trigger a new connection to the provider.

During the day I have the most crashes, also at night, but not as often as during the day: /
