I bought my first laptop today and wonder when I should charge it so that the battery lasts a long time. Should I always have it on the charging cable when there's an outlet nearby? Should I only charge it when it is completely empty or when it has reached a certain percentage?
Does anyone know about this?
The battery should have a charge level between 20-80%. My old Samsung laptop had a feature that even automatically stopped charging at 80%. Check that out, otherwise you have to unplug and pin it by hand.
Or take out the battery if you are sitting at a socket if that works…
If you usually have your laptop on the mains anyway, you can charge the battery to 50% and then take it out. This is how you protect him the most.
The best thing is between 30 and 80% and, if that works for you, remove the battery when you are sitting at the desk or when you are on the power supply. Do not leave the battery permanently outside, otherwise the CMOS battery will empty.
Applies to LiION batteries: No matter what you do and how you charge: These batteries start to lose power from 2-3 years.
You shouldn't deeply discharge and overcharge these things - but that should prevent the charging electronics.
In short: it doesn't matter to you as a user.
