Freifunk safer for laptops than for cell phones?

I'm someone who sometimes takes to the air with his laptop / cell phone. I use Freifunk outside. Now I have been told that Freifunk for the laptop is supposed to be safer than for the cell phone and that I should never use the cell phone in the Freifunk. Is that correct? Or is that complete nonsense?

I don't know, but I can imagine it. There are probably only a very small number of notebooks in "Freifunk". Malware and the like were probably designed for Android and iOS.
