The question arises whether I should use the Windows "Reset to factory settings" feature or manually reinstall Windows 10. Which option should I choose and why? Do I need anything else besides my Windows 10 product key for the new installation?

You need a CD with the Windows version or a bootable USB stick and your Windows 10 product key.
