Laptop doesn't work anymore?

I wanted to watch a movie yesterday and since I don't have a drive for the dvd in the laptop, I connected an external drive. At some point in the film, the laptop went out because of the empty battery.

I then connected my charging cable and wanted to turn it on again, but forgot to turn off the drive then. Now my laptop doesn't work anymore. I've fully charged it, waited and all sorts of things, but absolutely nothing happens when I try to turn it on. Everything stays black. Since I have a very important job on the laptop for school that I shouldn't lose, I hope that maybe someone can help me.

Take out the battery and insert it again.

Connected LW does not matter…

Battery out, disconnect power supply, power 30 sec. Hold…

Then turn on the power supply, try…

Then only try with the battery…

One day charging.
