Order laptop without SSD?

I would like to order this notebook without an SSD and without an operating system for cost reasons.

If I buy an M.2 NVME SSD now, will it be recognized immediately? Or do I have to set something?

An

Can you do that at all?

Ra

At XMG / Schenker you can, yes.

My

It's okay without an operating system, but it's not good without an SSD.

Can't get into the pig crates anymore.

If it fits, it should also be recognized. But for cost reasons you want to leave them out? Do you already have one or how?

Ra

So I bought mine at XMG / Schenker without SSD and yes, you can use and install it. You just have to dare to open the notebook yourself, which was pretty easy for me and XMG even included instructions on how to open the notebook.

But since you want to buy an M.2 anyway and don't already have it, just select it in the configurator.

Can't get into the pig crates anymore.

The boxes are still quite good, so they offer the notebooks without problems without an SSD.

For me, they even put instructions on how to open the XMG notebook (from the same manufacturer).

My

OK, I did not know that.

Ra

So mine is very easy. Get the SD card out, or the aperture.

Then loosen all screws. There are no hidden screws.

And then press 1x with the SD card cover against the inside of the SD slot, it jumps open on one side. With the cover you could also drive wonderfully (so it was even written in the instructions) once to open it. Now open the lid on the side where the SD card was (other side does not work because it is hooked) and open.

Strictly speaking, even "without an operating system" is nonsense.

As far as Windows is concerned, legal licenses will most likely make it more expensive, and with Linux the issue of "laptop" is unfortunately still a tragedy. You have to pay close attention to the hardware and whether it is supported by the kernel.

My

False saves 100 euro and more.

Cl

No not yet, but there 500GB costs almost twice as much as e.g. On Mindfactory.

So you just plug in a USB stick with Windows and the operating system is installed?

Ad

OK

Ra

Not quite, you plug in the USB stick, you can boot from it (boot menu should be F7).

Then Windows Setup starts and now it depends on whether you know how to do it. But actually only start the custom installation of the setup for which you also have a key (Win10 Home / Pro) and then just click once on the unallocated memory for the custom installation, then click on and off you go.

The M.2 slot usually has the lower data carrier number, alternatively pay attention to the size that is shown to you.

OK thanks!

Ra

Thank you for giving me the star.

Your answers helped me a lot, thanks back. 😊
