The notebook is new and was relatively expensive. She wanted to have a light notebook that she could take anywhere. I once read that it would not be good for the notebook if you put it on the couch or bed. What can you put under it or assemble it, that does not harm the notebook?
There are trays with a sticky pillow. You can also use them for breakfast.

Since this is a new device, it probably has no air cooling, so the problem would not ever exist. With purely passive cooling, one only has to make sure that the heat is dissipated sufficiently, so that it does not come to thermal throttling and the device becomes slow.
