I recently came up with an idea. I just don't know if it would work that way.
My idea is to connect my laptop (win10) to another PC (WinXP) via LAN.
Then I wanted to bridge / connect LAN and Hamachi to my laptop.
A friend would do that too or through a virtual machine.
The reason is, I would like to play some old games that only run on XP or older with a friend. But so that everyone can sit at home.
You don't mention the network-enabled game you are using, but you can establish a VPN connection, I think it is better to play through a server.
I only know this from Duke Nukem with IP and establish a connection.
Get some virtualization program and run XP in there? Then you don't have to do all the nonsense with Hamachi.
Think VMware would be easiest.
Why the effort?
Install VirtualBox with guest extensions, switch to network bridge and you're done.
There are several games we may want to play. E.g. Empire Earth, gangsters, settlers the legacy of kings, etc.
If there's no problem in a VPN network, all IPs are visible.
🤔 I think I've tried it in the past with a virtual machine with two games. I mean I didn't get it to work, but I'll try again
