Windows 7 backup absolutely and absolutely necessary?

I don't want Windows 10. My Windows 7 is still working perfectly. I still have a new laptop with Windows 10 lying around, which I can't cope with and therefore do not use. I just don't find anything there. Do I now have to update my old PC to Windows 10?

I have sensitive data, if any, on a separate hard drive, which I only switch on when I want to use it - and mostly offline. As a PC dummy, I always prefer to leave everything as it is. Interventions on my part always lead to disasters.

Nobody forces you to update to Windows 10. Just be aware that there are no more security updates.

Thank you. For me as a PC dummie, a new operating system is almost the same as a complete failure of the PC. So I'm not worried about security settings.

In the first time after this end of support, the continued use of win 7 will still be relatively harmless, since the last updates had closed all security gaps known up to that point.

but the longer you continue to use it (online), the higher the risk that hackers will target these "creatures of habit".

But seriously: win 10 does not differ so much from 7, we forget the 8s diligently. It is only less colorful and after a short time to get used to it, it is as if it were smeared. If you think carefully, you have learned dozens of new things in your life without complaining about the old ones. You just have to want it.

Me as a die-hard Linux fan - I think it's a shame that you don't get along with Windows 10, because in my opinion W10 is the best Windows ever. Of course, you don't necessarily have to upgrade, if you work with it as you described, you can continue to use it. You could approach Windows 10 in peace, I think it can also be designed similarly to the surface of Win7.

I would advise you to back up your data regularly so that if you find yourself having any difficulties, you can reset your surroundings.

I back up my 6 computers (5 x Linux and 1 x Win10) weekly on a Clonezilla live CD on ext. USB hard drives, I have never needed my backups for a restore in 1994. But I don't want to experience a shipwreck. I worked as a freelance software developer until I retired, but I still do this and that to keep me fit.

In principle, you don't have to update, only every day without a security update increases the chance that you will catch something if you still use WIndows 7 online.

Install https://open-shell.github.io/Open-Shell-Menu/ on your Windows 10 times, this replaces the start menu with the "classic" version, try to see if you can handle it better.

I have Update Pack + Norton and it stays with me
