I have a laptop with an Intel i5-3230m CPU with 2.60GHz that gets 70 degrees hot with some Chrome tabs and Visual Studio code? Is that OK?

Oy

Not okay with a few Chrome tabs. For big games I would have said that is relatively normal. But is also a laptop. As long as it doesn't crash, otherwise you'll have to get a new one soon.

Well, I sometimes play J4F browser games and then it only gets 70 degrees hot

Oy

It's just a laptop

An

Completely normal with a laptop, since no real airflow is possible.

With a laptop, higher temperatures are not uncommon, the whole is due to the design because there's simply not enough space and everything is installed in a very small space.

Most of the time you can feel this temperature even if you put your hand on the bottom of the device. To do this, an external cooling station would be required. Such a station would be e.g. The following:

With such a cooler you can actively cool the underside of the laptop and thus reduce the temperatures inside. This is particularly important if the laptop is under heavy loads frequently and for a long time.

As with a PC, the same applies to a laptop: the cooler the hardware in general, the longer it will be. Of course, you can overdo it and cool the whole thing with nitrogen, but then you kill the hardware with it over time and that's actually only an option for extreme overclocking.

I have 60 degrees on a tab lmao

If you don't want to tweak it, it looks very bad.

Does it make sense to lift the laptop a bit off the table using pens or something?
