I would like to connect a second monitor to my laptop but only have outputs from the laptop HDMI and USB-C on my screen but only VGA and DVI connections.
My question is now whether I can use an HDMI to VGA cable which then transmits the image
Simply take an HDMI to DVI-D adapter, this is passive.
For VGA you would need an active adapter, makes less sense.
HDMI is actually DVI…
So this should not be a problem.
Otherwise the old version "VGA".
But definitely goes via HDMI…
I say, HDMI and DVI are actually the same. Both digital. VGA only if nothing else is left. But I tried it… 24 inch screen. I could determine the best will no difference between DVI and VGA. And we're talking about a really good Samsung monitor.
My answer is older too.
