I reset my Windows 8.1 laptop to factory settings. After that I installed some things again. Now I try to check for updates but there's never a result. (See picture) What can you do there? It is already looking for 1 hour. Should I wait any longer?
Has taken me two to three hours, but then me but has proposed updates. It's pretty annoying. Did you turn off the automatic update?
Try to restart the PC again.
Otherwise there are 2 possibilities that come to mind spontaneously:
Either you download the troubleshooting tool from Microsoft windows
or you can manually download the updates from windows at the official site.
I've set "Check for updates, but set time to download and install manually".
I can't exactly explain the problem if it is one, either
Windows 8.1 or the predecessor Windows 8 is hardly used today.
The only way to go to Windows 10 or stay on Windows 7.
Or alternatively to use a Linux distribution which is free.
