Save laptop data to Dropbox during recovery?

I want to completely restore my laptop to the factory settings, but I don't have a medium large enough to store all of my pictures / music / files.

I thought about using the Dropbox trial subscription, which gives you up to 3 TB of cloud storage. In other words, as a short-term buffer as long as the laptop resets itself. After that, I would download all the data from Dropbox back to the laptop.

Now to my question: is it possible to use the Dropbox trial subscription for this? Or can you upload exe files to Dropbox?

I'm grateful for any helpful answer!

In principle, you can back up your data in this way, but you need a very fast internet connection. It will take a long time. It would be much better to buy an external hard drive and use that for regular backups later.

DropBox only provides 3GB for free - any USB stick for a few euro can do that too.

That's why the trial subscription with 3TB.

There won't be that much data either.

I accept that it would take a long time, the main thing is whether it works.

However, you need a very fast internet connection. It will take a long time.

That's why the trial subscription with 3TB.

Try it free for 14 days

Find the mistake! 😉

So, that goes to the questioner now:

The mistakes? Here you are:
- What do you do when the upload is interrupted and you don't know what is already saved and what is not?
- DropBox will then know your data forever - do you have so much trust in every single admin of this company?

What's the bad thing about borrowing or borrowing an external hard drive with a USB port? New something with 500 GB costs around 30, - €, a housing with USB connection is available from 10, - €, then you can use an old hard drive. Maybe a buddy has something lying around? In any case, it is much safer and faster than your cloud solution!
Another tip: Do not copy your entire hard drive in one go, but thematically individual videos, images, office documents, emails, etc.
There's no point in backing up applications (programs) anyway, since they all have to be reinstalled after a new installation. So always keep your license key safe!

Oh! I would have started with "mathematics" a little earlier:
Calculate how long the upload and download will take via the internet connection and whether 14 days are sufficient.

I haven't even started with the important point of data protection. 😉

Are you here just to nag or do you also have a contribution on the topic?

ta

If you see that as "stinking" and "offtopic", then I have to stink that you just came out as "less intelligent" than I assumed until now based on your contributions.
Sorry if that sounds tough, but isso.

But it was still not a contribution to the topic for AssQz…
