VM with or without BIOS settings?

I used to have an old laptop that everyone in my family used… It had a VM on it

So far so good, now I have my own laptop, which is primarily intended for school (of course for everything else private, it's my own laptop, not that of the company or something)

Since I would like to install a VM on this, but I'm not sure if I change anything on the "host" system with the installation (I ask, because with the old laptop the network adapter suddenly called VM something, if there were other things where are recognizable)

I don't necessarily need the VM, but sometimes I like to know the gimmicks with e.g. Linux or in general, just reset if there's a mistake and is good.

The program will probably say when something needs to be changed. In any case, VMWare does.

Otherwise it is also in the installation instructions. But it is not unlikely that the system (BIOS / UEFI) is set correctly from the outset.

Okey thanks.

So could I install the VM, and afterwards everything runs exactly as it did before?

(i.e. If the program is not open)

Ch

Usually yes, if the program does not issue a warning during installation.

Otherwise you can easily find instructions on how to remedy the problem if you enter the name of the VM program and the wording of the error message
