Hey guys I read today that if I have a lot of fps in a game it is not so important because I was told that my laptop has to record it or something and you have Hz or whatever that means and then I have it on the Internet wanted where you can see how much Hz you have and how you can change it but I have not found a tutorial that worked for me because somehow it was different with each tutorial and nobody worked so you can help me.

Di

Call BIOS or, if necessary, the control panel (for Windows).

mo

If you have a modern operating system like Linux, just do it

xrandr

call, it tells you.

Ef

So i have an acer nitro 5 so you know how to do it

Ef

? What is bios

Ef

And what is xrandr? @guenterhalt

Gr

You can't change "Hz", this is the frequency of your processor.

Ef

? But I have seen people who have a 144hz laptop, for example, but can always change their hz between 60hz and 144hz, so is that possible or am I wrong?

Di

A mini operating system built into the mainboard. Depending on the manufacturer, it can be called up by pressing a certain key after switching on the PC, usually "Del" or "F2".

Gr

Windows key → "Display settings" / Advanced display settings. You can see under "Update rate (Hz)" how fast your display is.

Ef

Hmm ok i try but what's wrong?

Di

The inscription on the relevant key 😢

Ef

Ah thanks a lot my laptop just says i have 60hz so is that what my laptop can do or what my laptop has?

Ef

Ohh ups ok thanks

Di

But beware! Just look! Do not change anything in the BIOS settings without knowing about it!

Ef

And a couple of other questions i just see you know dih with the topic i would have a 2 if i play minecraft i have about 100-380 fps in multiplayer and in single player i have 400-700 fps but if i use a shader I have only 5-20 fps what can I do about it I do not understand it, I downloaded the 2 worst shader but still have so little fps and it jerky and I bought a gaming laptop extra that it works but it doesn't work and now I'm very disappointed so do you have any tips what I could do?

Tu

You can no longer make your Hz as long as your screen only has 60, but I assume the ones in the videos were 120/144 or so and then simply increased the Hz from 60.

I'll put a video link in, if you look at the beginning you see how it works, if you can't change anything your screen only supports 60.

Ef

OK thank you

Ef

Thank you for your help

Tu

You're welcome

This could be because your laptop either does not have a dedicated graphics chip (e.g. From Nvidia) or it is not activated. This is usually done via a corresponding menu from the chip manufacturer. You can sometimes find this by right-clicking on the desktop.

There's a setting somewhere for which applications the graphics chip should be used. You may be able to set it to permanently active there. The only disadvantage is that it takes a little more power - but is irrelevant if you are not playing on battery.

Otherwise, check whether the drivers are all up to date and if in doubt try other shaders.

The 60 Hz means that your laptop screen is designed for this frequency. Accordingly, 400-700 frames per second bring you nothing but "Prestige"

Ef

Ohh ok how much hz would I need it to bring me the 700 fps for example

Mo

Very easily. You press the Windows key and enter: dxdiag. Then you press enter. Possibly. A window opens which says something like: "Check whether the drivers are digitally signed" There you simply press "No". If you press "Yes", then it just takes a little longer to execute the command. In the window that opens, press the display and the "Current display mode" will display the Hz number.

This Hertz number indicates how often the second your monitor spits out an image. A person sees fluently from around 24 frames per second. A movie has e.g. 25 frames per second, also called FPS (frames per second).

For example, if you have 60 Hertz on your screen, but you have 100 FPS in a game, your monitor can't display these 100 frames per second, but only 60, because the monitor can no longer. Therefore, you can either save the battery and so that the laptop does not get so hot and loud, limit the FPS to 60 in the game settings or you can set the graphics settings higher so that you have about 60 FPS.

Gr

FPS means: How many frames per second can your computer generate through calculations

Refresh rate of the screen in [Hz] means how often per second your screen can build up a new picture.

In plain text in your case: Your PC sends 700 frames per second to the screen, but it can only feel that every 10th picture is reconstructed. The other 9 are lost internally.

By the way, the 700 frames per second sound extremely strange in a Java-based application (= Minecraft) … Are you sure you didn't make a mistake?
