Why do you say that money does not make you happy?

If I had the money, the following would change for me:

I would rent an apartment instead of the bed space in the 3 bed room in the homeless shelter and would then continue my studies.

I would buy a car

I would buy a laptop, game console and a big TV

I would buy a lot of clothes

Of course I would be happy then (assuming I stay healthy)

There are studies that say that depending on where you live, there's a certain amount where more money does not make you happier. In Western Europe, for example, this amount would currently be around 100,000 euro

To answer that from my perspective. I have a lot of money, although I would not call myself super rich now. Of course, what you list there has a hand and a foot and it is understandable to the people who are currently living in need or not having a lot of money that you can see it that way. And why not? After all, you're right. There are certainly worries that you suddenly do not have anymore and that make you happy… First of all…

I think the problem is especially great for people who do not experience happiness through consumption. I'm there, of course. So. Of course, I also bought all sorts of things then and that was awesome, because I never had enough money before.

But then you quickly realize that the happiness just does not last long. The big Benz is there then, but I drive with it just as much for shopping as before with my VW. I have a 4K telly with all sorts of bells and whistles, but actually I'm already happy to see the things on his monitor and headphones, etc.

If you have more space, you usually only have more space to buy stuff that you have to put in. I was too lazy to clean, so I paid someone for it.

You quickly realize how impersonal everything is and that does not make things happy. In addition, friends quickly turn away from you and you meet a lot of people who just want to be your friends because you have money.

Although I have a girlfriend and I'm really happy with that, but many that I know are just just lonely and just as everyday, stress and worry like everyone else.

There are studies that say that happiness does not increase after a certain salary… And so I'm. The money is there at some point, but somehow it changes only superficially what the positive.

Of course, I understand that it is different if you have to turn every euro. But let me put it this way: between "earning enough, being able to live okay, getting iced up and having something for old age" and being "rich", the differences are not that big.

I think that if all people could choose between a well-paid 40-hour job and being "rich" with the requirement to work 20 or 70 hours for 20 years, most would, correctly, choose the first option.

In any case, I've someday sold the Benz, given away the TV to friends and moved into a normal 2 bedroom apartment and am happier than ever, even though I hardly need 1000 euro a month to live…

There's more to it than money!

My view is money does not make you happy, but it calms down. You can buy a lot with money. But luck, health and true friends are not.

Certain worries and fears about getting around the laps disappear, but others quickly turn up. That's why I say money is not everything.

Very nicely described.

You can see it on many celebrities, for example, drugs crashed there. Money really does not make anything happy. It calms down and you can even afford a visit to the cinema or treat yourself to a meal in the restaurant. Would this wish for many poorer people that everyone does not have to worry about how he / she survives the month by the middle of the month, but that at the end of the month there's still money left without turning over every cent twice?
