Create Windows 98 laptop?

I would like to set up a laptop with Windows 98 for nostalgia reasons, since it was my first system as a child to use it, for example. Play old games.

Now computers with Windows 98 have become quite expensive. What you get more or less thrown behind are old Windows XP laptops that also have sufficient performance and a graphics card.

Now I have heard that the project is not possible because of FAT32.

Can someone explain this to me and tell me what kind of laptop I have to look for?

I think you need a 32 bit system and on laptops you won't find it that easy anymore. Desktop PC should be much easier to find and cheaper.

Older systems often run on 32 bit, more modern systems on 64 bit.

KP, I don't see why formatting the HDD should be a problem.

Vill rather missing drivers?

The old Pentium laptops with Pentium 3 or 4 should work. I still have an ancient Compaq-Armada M700, built around 1998, which runs on Windows XP (no, I don't give it away). It should work for sure. The first ones were still running Pentium 2 and could run Windows 95.

My Armada is equipped with 576 MB Ram; 64MB had the built-in and 2 additional storage spaces under the keyboard. There's also a USB-1 socket, USB-2 can be retrofitted via a plug-in card and a CD drive (alternatively CD burner). The hard drive was not generous, 10 GB, but there are alternatives up to the IDE hard drive with PATA SSD and 128 GB (from China for about 60 euro)
I have already written about this elsewhere: As an office computer, he is still pretty fast with the "full equipment", but the Internet can be forgotten.

Unfortunately, they are only able to play games to a very limited extent.
