A question to the Windows experts - would that work?

Can I use the recovery disk of my computer (Win7) for a laptop (eg Win8 or Win10) and install it on the laptop Win7? Or does this recovery disk only work for my computer?

What do you usually do with Recovery Disk? The Recovery CD? The alone is not enough. You also have to have a matching image for the restore, which is usually on the respective hard disk.

What you can do is start an Image Tool, back up Windows 7 to an external disk and then restore it to the laptop using the same tool. But there might be problems with the boot because of the different bus drivers.

Then could recommend to a universal backup tool. This will restore the previously saved image to any computer. You sometimes have to repeat the activation by phone.

The recovery disc is only for restoring your Win7 PC. - It is not an installation DVD!
You will find further details in your PC user manual.

To be able to install Win8.1 or Win10, you have to download a Win8.1 or Win10 ISO file from the corresponding Microsoft page and burn it to a DVD with a suitable burning program, such as CDBurnerXP, as ISO.

Complement: If you want to reinstall Win7, you can download the Win7 Home with SP1 ISO file from this page: https://winfuture.de/...,2662.html and Win7 Pro with SP1 ISO file: https://winfuture.de/...,3291.html and then burn an installation DVD with it.

An oversight.

Just download the ISO and create a bootable USB flash drive or burn it to DVD.

I once inserted the cd and opened and these files were on the cd:

boat

efi

sources

support

autorun

bootmgr

Bootmgr.efi

MediaMeta

set up

I have ever rewired Windows with a USB stick. After I downloaded the ISO, I extracted the ISO and copied the extracted files to the stick. These extracted files were the same ones that are on the Recovery Disk I'm talking about.

So this recovery disk is a recovery disk, is not it? And can I use this CD (which was included with my computer) for other computers to rebuild Windows?

If you unpack an ISO file, it looks like:

boat

efi

sources

support

autorun

bootmgr

Bootmgr.efi

MediaMeta

set up

Exactly these files are also on the CD (which was when you buy our computer here). So it's a recovery cd, is not it? Can I use this CD or the files on the CD to rebuild a different computer?

Sc

An ISO is an image of the original DVD. What exactly on the recovery I do not know. Can also be that is the recovery without SP1.
