I don't have 3 older notebook hard drives in my notebook for about 5-6 years. The notebook hasn't been around for about 3 years.
However, there's still data on these disks (pictures, videos, games, music), but nothing important that I absolutely need.
Is there a possibility to pull this data down from the disks privately? 🤔🤔 or is certain technology required?
Of course there are techniques. What interfaces do the disks have?
only: is it worth it? You're paying a fortune for things you don't really need.
SATA… Yes, that's right. That's why I thought it would also be possible privately…
5-6 years
Then SATA, just hang it in a PC and it's good… You only need a SATA cable, your power supply unit has power
You can try Sata to attach to any desktop PC. Or you can buy a case from Saturn that has a USB interface. You put them in there one by one.
This is possible for a few euro. Buy a suitable sata-usb adapter and use the disk as an external disk on another computer.
Yes SATA… Ok, but unfortunately I don't have one available.
As long as the disks are not defective, a simple USB-SATA controller, which can be bought on the Internet for ≈ 10 euro, is sufficient.
A 2.5 "hard disk enclosure would be a bit more stylish, the costs are no more and you can simply continue to use the old hard disks as external hard disks.
Good idea
Then buy one for 1 euro. Or ask friends, acquaintances, neighbors…
About 5-6 years ago, the SATA interface was used as standard in notebooks, which could possibly be connected there in a "mini version".
You only have to find out which SATA connector variant is exactly required on the said hard disks, and then you simply get an adapter cable from standard SATA including power supply in your desktop for the hard disks.
Then you connect one of the HDDs to your desktop, let the BIOS recognize it and you should then be able to read and copy it normally under Windows.
It's all relative. If you just toss 20 euro out the window, it's a fortune. If you spend 20 euro to satisfy curiosity, then it can also be sensible.
Amazon e.g. Is full of matching adapters. You just have to choose the right interface. There are also adapters that have several interfaces. They might be more promising. Ideally an adapter with its own power supply unit.
Yes and no. There's almost always more meaningful activity than digging through old things.
What should a fortune cost, please? You hang the disk on a USB dock (e.g. For 24.90) or on an adapter (e.g. SATA → USB for 9.90 EUR). If you have a stand PC, a SATA cable for EUR 2.90 is sufficient if you don't have one in the motherboard box (because there are usually 2-4 included)!
Where do you see a fortune? As long as the record is running you don't have to buy a DDI, PC3000 or MRT for something like that ;-)
It would be good if you could post a photo of the connections - 99% of the time it is a 2.5 "SATA disk that can be operated with this adapter, for example: https://www.amazon.de/...01ESJS36Q/
Then you can read the record directly. For example, if it was an Apple laptop or if you had Linux installed then you have to install the appropriate tools under Windows so that you can read these file systems or you can read the disk again on a Mac or Linux system.
Otherwise there's usually nothing to consider.
If the laptop is much older then the hard drive will not have a SATA connection (recognizable by 2 L-shaped connector strips). If the board has two rows of individual pins, it is an old IDE board and you will need a different adapter.
PS.: I doubt whether the games will work if you simply copy them down!
I don't pay 30 euro and a working day (with worries) to get one last time at my own garbage.
On such a universal adapter you can connect all current and older disks that have an IDE or SATA connection: https://www.amazon.de/...019SW4Z42/
Everything that doesn't fit with it becomes adventurous ;-)
But! Because if he doesn't want the data, this question wouldn't exist either. In addition, it is 99% safe to use a SATA disk, and then we're talking about 8-10 EUR rather than 30 EUR. Ordering the thing on Amazon or anywhere else takes 5 minutes or you can get it from a PC dealer nearby. That doesn't take a whole day either.
Disassembling the laptop doesn't take that long either!
Don't really understand your logic.
There's no need to understand each other here. Some like to rummage through old things, others don't.
A very individual decision😊
