As you can see, I'm aiming for a MacOS look. However, every now and then, when I close my laptop, the dock in the middle no longer works and the Ubuntu dock comes horizontally instead. I'm using DashToDock. The problem often occurs with an invisible mouse pointer. Then no programs can be opened and the only thing that still reacts is the top bar. Does anyone have a solution?

Seems to be a known problem (https://github.com/micheleg/dash-to-dock/issues/1240, https://askubuntu.com/questions/1236710/facing-some-problem-with-gnome-dash-to-dock-extension-in-ubuntu-20-04). Solution is to disable the Ubuntu Dock:

gnome-extensions disable ubuntu-dock@ubuntu.com
