I'm 11 years old, and since I don't have a laptop / PC yet, and I'm in home cooling, I would like an Ipad for school. Until now I've always done the video conference on my cell phone, which worked very badly. But I suspect that when my father hears about the 180 euro request, he'll say that I can use his very old laptop. (it takes sooo long to start up). So I'm looking for a way to convince him and my mother to get an Ipad.
PS: I could pay about half.
I would be happy to get some answers.
Why does it have to be an iPad? I could understand a tablet in itself, because it really makes a lot of things easier. I noticed that too and that's why I bought one when I started homeschooling.
But 'iPad' has the bitter aftertaste of 'I don't want anything, I want something special' and then something relatively expensive (because seriously… I doubt that you can get a 160 euro iPad anywhere that meets your high standards and it should last for a while) and as a mother I would be more skeptical than when you arrive about a tablet, because you really need it for school, because of these conferences and because it might. It is also cheaper than a new laptop (which, by the way, I would prefer). A cell phone is just unnecessarily complicated when it comes to retrieving documents online.
I don't know your family, but maybe your parents don't have a lot of money at the moment. If not, you could tell them that it would not only help you in class, but also help you with school projects. Also that you would like to have it outside of class for watching videos etc. That you'd pay half of it yourself. It would be something cool for you to pass the time (especially now a factor in Corona times) that is also a help in class. I don't know which site you use for homeschooling, but for some (e.g. Iserv) it is almost impossible to use it with your smartphone. You should also make it clear to them why the old laptop is unsuitable for this. Many laptops that are getting on in years have a problem with keeping a good connection, which is catastrophic in class.
You can get a used Ipad for 180 euro. But thanks, I'll have a look at a tabler
I would rather buy a new device. That is more expensive, yes, but I would buy new electronic devices and if necessary take one that will last a while;)
If I were you I would actually save on a laptop / computer because you will need that more than a tablet. A mixture of both is also very good, I think, but rather expensive. I needed my own in 6th grade.
You could take as an argument that you need it for school and that you also have to have something of your own that you can turn to at any time.
I agree with most of the other answers. But try to ask them that you would also use a normal tablet such as Von Samsung. But then rather a new one so that it works properly and for a long time. It doesn't always have to be the most expensive and the best like Apple's.
You mean the argument "not only school but also games" would convince parents? The other way around it becomes a shoe!
You can forget about an Ipad for 180 euro. This either has too little memory or is very old. (Or both.) You'd better use Daddy's laptop. In the time that it drives up, you lubricate your breakfast sandwich.
Corona won't be forever either, so at least I would find the argumentation more convincing.
So do you think buying an expensive toy is more convincing? Strange logic
More convincing than an expensive aid for school that will only be of use for a few days as such? Indeed
