Windows 10 code usable on laptop on PC?

I have a question. On almost every laptop / PC that has Windows, there's a key code with which you can upgrade Windows free of charge, e.g. From 8 to 10. Now my question is, can I use the unused code from the laptop on my PC?

Yes, that is basically possible.

Only I don't know if the free upgrade to win 10 is still being done. Originally, this was only supposed to last for a year and that is long gone.

But you can easily use an unused win 10 laptop key on a fixed PC.

On OEM PCs, ready-made PCs and laptops are part of this, since Windows 8 no more COA (license sticker) stuck with a key on it. There's only the Windows logo and that's it. With OEM PCs, the Windows license has been bound to the mainboard since Windows 8 and can only be linked to a Microsoft account. With this Microsoft account, the license can then be moved to another PC if Windows is no longer running or is removed from the computer from which the license originally came. Only if you buy a Windows 8, 8.1 or 10 for yourself will you get a license sticker with a key on it. The last computers with a COA stuck on them were Windows 7 machines. However, you can also, currently Anyway, activate a Windows 10. The free upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 still works. I only did that a week ago.

I want to see a "Win 10 laptop key". Since Windows 8 there are no laptops or other OEM PCs, with a license sticker, also called COA. With OEM PCs, the Windows license has been bound to the mainboard since Windows 8 and can be linked to a Microsoft account. With this Microsoft account, the license can then be moved to another PC if Windows is no longer running or removed on the computer from which the license originally came. The free upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 still works.

Oh yes, you can of course use an unused Windows 7 license key to activate Windows 10, even on a different computer than the one from which the license originally came.
