I want to reinstall a laptop for the first time. An old acer with vista hime premium.
CD of course not available.
Can I use this pq service partition for this as a newbie?
Or should I load an iso onto a stick and make it bootable etc?
As I said, I never did it.
Can I do that with this pq service?
Data is of course secured, etc.
Yes I know. But that was included with the old laptop. So I still want to replay it. Well and I don't know at all whether the new windows versions would get it from the requirements ^^
Vista uses more power than 7 or 10, believe me.
There's a problem there. Vista can no longer activate itself because Microsoft switched off the Vista activation server at the end of 2017.
The only thing you can do with this laptop is to install the free Cloudready operating system there. This is an adapted Chrome OS that turns every laptop into a Chromebook. Cloudready also requires very little system resources and runs extremely quickly. Here is the download: https://www.neverware.com/freedownload You need the USB Maker.
After you have created the stick, you boot it on the laptop. Just follow the instructions of the wizard. He completely erases the hard drive and then installs Cloudready. A restart takes place after the installation is complete. Then comes the initial setup wizard. Just log in with your Google account or create one if you don't have one yet.
Now your "Chromebook" is ready. Then go to the settings and there in the section Media Plugins. There you can install codecs with just one click. Then the Widevine DRM component is also installed. With it you can also use Netflix, maxdome, Amazon Video etc.
Cloudready goes off like a rocket. The browser starts without delay. So you can still use an old device in a meaningful way without spending any money. In comparison, Vista is a lame duck.
Downloaded music and video files can be played with a simple double click. Cloudready has a player firmly integrated into the system.
Here is a video of what it looks like
