I'd rather have an old Acer laptop reinstall Windows instead of using the factory reset function.
At the bottom of the laptop is the sticker with the Windows key.
If I flatten Windows and do a fresh reinstallation, can I still activate Windows with this key afterwards? Or is there a specially adapted version of Windows installed that is required by the key?
This works out.
Windows 7? I suspect that will no longer work because windows 7 is no longer supported
Windows 10 should also be able to be activated with a Microsoft account, so again shouldn't be a problem
Which version of Windows?
Vista Business 32 bit. (Laptop in the 18th century)
I can't guarantee if and how long Microsoft will keep the activation servers for Windows 7 available. Please call the Microsoft service.
This operating system does not belong on a productive computer - at best still on gaming retro PCs for games from the 2000s with CD / DVD copy protection that are not connected to any networks.
