Canon 400D data transfer via USB (Windows 10) possible?

I have the following problem:

I now have a Canon EOS 400D and would like to use EOS Utility to transfer photos from the camera to my Windows 10 (64bit) via a direct USB connection.

However, my laptop does not recognize the camera and EOS Utility does not recognize it either, so my project fails.

I have EOS Utility 2 and 3, under both programs it also starts in compatibility mode, as admin the program ran without problems, but still can't find a camera.

I have a card reader, but there's no longer a "CompactFlash" memory card.

Apparently I can update the camera so that it is also recognized as a mass storage device, but I have to pull data onto the CompactFlash, just stupid that I can't access it.

If someone has an insider tip for me, I would be grateful.

Otherwise, I will probably only have to order a card reader for this purpose.

If someone has an insider tip for me, I would be grateful.

On one of my cameras, I use an adapter that I use to use µSD cards in the CF slot.

Also an idea, but in this case an acquisition is also necessary, thanks anyway!

Maybe a silly question, but maybe you turned the camera off?

It must be on to be able to transfer data.

And you don't necessarily need a utility for the transfer, you can also do this via normal Windows Explorer.

Yes, it is switched on and connected to the laptop via USB, but the camera can't find it. That is my problem, it is also not recognized as a mass storage device. (In this regard, I can update as described, but need the update on the memory card…)

Hmm, yes, the only option left is the Micro SD adapter.

Do yourself a favor and get yourself a card reader. Nobody uses the slow USB transfer from the camera.

Yes, already ordered, there's obviously no way around it.
