I have restarted my laptop and have found that since the HDMI no longer works. I always connected my laptop via HDMI to my SmartTV.
I have already discharged the residual current. But the HDMI port just does not work. I even bought a new cable, without success.
But I have found when I touch the port only slightly with the HDMI cable to flicker on my LED keyboard or the LED off and on.
I do not understand what's going on and how it could happen that just went with a reboot of the HDMI port was no longer. I also updated the drivers.
I have an "Asus N551JW".
Try turning the "power plug" in the socket. You seem to have a problem with the protective earth or with the grounding of your devices.
(try all 4 options of the two plugs from the notebook and the Smart TV)
Unfortunately, I do not quite understand what you mean. So I once did the laptop only in battery and it has made no difference. I mean HDMI goes on the TV (tested with a PS3) but on my laptop it is no longer functional no matter where I test it. Even in the living room is no longer possible.
Then probably your notebook is broken
