Fan from the laptop turn up and it goes out?

By the way, thanks to everyone who reads through the probably longer text.
I have the problem that my laptop, which is now 9 years old, is slowly getting tired of it. I will get my new one in 2 months and therefore I hope for provisional help. The problems started 1-2 days ago. He keeps going out. Standard situation: I sit at my desk and watch videos or work around. 30 minutes. Then he just goes out like this. I start him annoyed and he goes out immediately after the "Windows normal field". Before that, however, he turns the fans really up again. What surprises me is that it doesn't necessarily get hot. Coretemp oderso doesn't really say anything too bad… It is warm, of course, but not to the extent… Do you have any ideas on what to do?

There's probably too much dust inside.

Look here

If you don't dare to have someone do it for you. PC shop or acquaintances.

Pi

Ahhha okay. But I'll try that.

Ev

Is the laptop attached to the power adapter or the battery? The battery may be defective. With a defective battery, this laptop can no longer be operated sensibly even with a power adapter.

9 years has been a very long time for such a battery.

There's also the simplest method of simply holding the vacuum cleaner to the openings with the suction pipe. Without the floor nozzle. Is not the most elegant method but is said to work. But I would really disassemble it, clean it, apply new paste and reassemble it. Be calm and careful with such actions. 9 year old plastic breaks quickly ;-)

Pi

Yes, only the battery can be removed. And nothing changes. The cable may also be defective.

Pi

So in the video you can see an awful lot of sheet metal. I did not expect. 😅👍🏼 Thanks anyway. I probably won't be allowed to sit down now to take the thing apart. 😅👍🏼 As I said thank you.

Bl

Then clean it from the outside. Take a brush and brush the dust from all openings so that you don't break anything.

Ev

You can also test the mainboard battery to see if it still has enough voltage.

Turning up the fan is already a sign that it is gasping for air. Try not to put the laptop directly on the desk, but rather raise it on the sides so that more air can flow under it, if it is better it is dusty inside or the fan is no longer performing well.

Pi

I just saw thermal paste is empty. I'll get the vacuum cleaner and then the brush. Will not bring much, but thanks anyway. Get paste tomorrow. 😅👍🏼

No idea where to find CMOS batteries for the model or model year. But actually a good tip. Could really be because.

Ev

After 10 years, most CMOS batteries give up. Usually these are commercially available CR2032, you can get them anywhere.

Pi

Ah okay. Have a look, thank you. 😅👍🏼
