Laptop reset for 4 hours at 44%?

Wait anyway, or would you rather cancel?

An

No wait. It varies from system to system. I once waited 6 hours with my old Lappy 😉

Bi

Wait a minute, you need it at night while you are not sleeping anyway. You can still cancel tomorrow morning (or at night if you have to pee).

I would leave. If the laptop is a bit older, don't be surprised. I have e.g. Upgraded from W7 to W10 on my laptop and simply ran the download via Nachg.

Reinstall Windows using a bootable USB stick

Te

He is 1.5 years old. I had him reset because he is extremely slow.

I would recommend canceling and reinstalling Windows 10 cleanly. It works like this:

First download the Media Creation Tool from the Microsoft website. You can use it to create a Windows 10 USB boot stick.

After you have created the stick, simply boot the stick and follow the instructions of the wizard. It offers the possibility to delete everything. You should do that. During the installation, the laptop is restarted several times.

You do not have to enter a product key because the license is permanently integrated in the BIOS and is automatically adopted. If a dialog box appears that requires the product key, just skip it.

After completing the installation and starting Windows 10 for the first time, it will automatically be reactivated.

The last step is to go to the manufacturer's website for the laptop. Download and install the drivers there.

It is always better to reinstall cleanly rather than reset. The created Windows 10 USB boot stick should be kept in an emergency. It can also be used to repair an installed Windows 10.

Then you should also carry out the Windows 10 disk cleanup regularly. Ideally with thorough cleaning. This can also be automated in task planning.

In addition, you should never go online today without an ad blocker. As an ad blocker, I recommend uBlock Origin. This is available as a web browser addon:

for Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/...ck-origin/

for Google Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/...iagm?hl=de

for Edge: https://www.microsoft.com/...blggh444l4

This also makes it faster on the Internet.

If you selected "Remove everything" and then "Clean the drive", it can take hours.

Only "remove data" has almost 70 minutes for me. Took.

Te

Yes, but with hours I thought of 2 to 3. For me it is now 13 hours and it still hangs at 44%.

Te

But I only have a laptop and no other way to get another PC / laptop.

Lo

Then waiting only helps

Ru

Then I would do the restore again or reinstall Win10.

In the event that you choose to restore:

If your laptop is from HP, you can go to the Advanced Options via the UEFI / BIOS and restore from there.

For other laptops using the "mallet method":
Repeatedly start the laptop and abort the boot with the on / off button.
At about the third time, the window with the "Advanced Options" opens…
As for the "Remove All" restore, choose this way
