I wonder if my laptop really has a dual channel ram, because when I found the laptop online it said that 4GB are soldered, 1x4Gb and one that is interchangeable. Most think it is a 2x4GB DDR4 Ram, but I'm not so sure, because in the CPU-Z there's no channel displayed in memory, neither single or dual, although it says that I have a total of 8 gigabytes of DDR4 size… With the SPD but stands module size 4GB with ranks: Single…
Can someone please help me there?
What CPU do you have?
Well, maybe you can check with the seller on the website for more details. If that's not the case, it wouldn't be bad either. In most cases there's no real difference between single channel and dual channel. About 5-10%.
But it also depends on what you're actually doing. It wouldn't make a difference in gaming, although I would upgrade to 12-16 GB anyway. With office programs one would have to have countless tabs open that the RAM becomes full and with design and rendering only the graphics card or the processor is actually used.
Based on your question and the information given, you can't answer your question.
The one requirement that there are two RAM modules of the same size exists, but unfortunately there's no information on how these modules are addressed.
Single rank or dual ranked is not an indication of whether the memory is accessed with dual channel (128 bit) or not. Rather, the information is how the memory is organized on the modules themselves.
The CPU-Z does not specify whether the ram is accessed via dual channel under the SPD tab but in the Memory tab
If the entry Channel # Dual can be found there and not Single, then you are accessing the RAM in Dual Channel mode.
Amd Ryzen 5 3500U
Then you have dual channel.
4GB soldered and 4 GB in the slot.
