Give away computer?

Hey 👋 I want to pass my laptop on to my girlfriend and now I want to delete all data from the hard drive except pictures and standard programs such as Word. Do you know how to do that? I have no cd at home.

Gl

Simply press the Windows key. Then type remove and go to "Add or Remove Programs".

Uninstall everything there that you no longer need.

Me

Thank you and is the browser history also completely gone on the hard drive so that you can't restore it?

De

Set up windows again with a USB stick

Me

Thanks 🙏 how do you do that and is the browser history gone everywhere?

ta

HDD or SSD?

Gl

If the browser is gone yes

Me

How do you mean?

ba

If I want to give my PC to someone else, I delete everything (reset to factory settings). Before that, I back up my personal data. Pictures and programs can be played back at any time. And I log out of all accounts.

It is even better to reinstall Win with the MCT.

Lu

Then all data is gone. Reset is as follows: Settings> Security> Recovery> Reset this PC.

Gl

Rather not do it. Is also easier

ta

Sorry, but if you don't know whether an SSD or an HDD is installed in your laptop, nobody can give you a correct answer.

The procedure depends on it.
Possibly. Do you even have to (can) remove the plate.

Me

Everything is gone on the hard drive and a simple person can't restore it and how do you mean that you can play it back at any time and thank you in advance

Me

Ok but thanks

ta

Resetting does not reliably delete personal data.
Apart from the fact that a short research on this platform is sufficient to determine that it is better to keep away from the function in view of the problems that arise.

De

Read out the windows key with https://www.chip.de/...63752.html,

make a stick ready with https://www.chip.de/...10099.html with the desired windows

restart the stick in the laptop, go to the "One-Time-Boot-Menu" (google with the laptop brand (any f key spam when starting)) and select the stick.

delete all partitions and then install windows.

Then everything is bought like new

ba

If you reinstall everything is gone. Back playing I mean your saved data, because you want to keep pictures.

ta

Does not reliably delete personal data.

Me

Okay, thank you very much, but this has to go urgently. Do you have an idea? So with me the pictures and programs should be saved. It's about the browsing history that is gone everywhere.

ta

Oh yes: Search here how many people have shot their computers with the "Reset" function. The use of the function is not really recommended.

Me

The laptop 💻 is non-metric ideal condition in only for the transition but it has to go

ta

Yes - the hard disk (HDD) or the solid state disc (SSD) would have to be deleted beforehand. To do this, you need to know what is built in.

Me

So it only has to delete the data in such a way that a nope in such topics can't see it

De

Don't reset. That's why a clean installation

Kr

Use a shredder program that overwrites the cells on the hard drive until it is impossible to revive them
