Why does my laptop have 2 hard drives?
Hi!

When I go to explorer (win10), I see 2 hard drives.

once "Windows (C." and once "Data (D."

Can i somehow merge these disks?

St

It depends: Are two data carriers installed? Or are they just two partitions on a hard drive?

You can check this via the disk management if you don't know it (to be found under Computer management in the Windows search)

Lo

No, your C hard drive is probably an SSD that is faster. And the D will be an HDD. Basically, you can't merge hard drives with each other.

Moin, that's actually good the way it is, as long as your laptop really has two plates. In the case: fill only D: with data u. Programs. Windows sits on C: This should remain as free as possible for a quick data transfer and a quick start.

You should still be able to merge them via the partition manager. In this case, please first inform, save data and then combine, as data can be lost in the process. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if it really works that way. Otherwise, look at the raid 0 (I mean it was 0, possibly 1).

As far as I know, this should work via a raid system, right?

Fr

Thanks, have a look, and you can't expand the hard drive (after deleting "D:"), but only shrink.

p.s: have restored "D:" (had no data on it anyway)

Fr

Thank you for this information! So can I save my data safely and conveniently on "D:"?

Aa

Clear! If there's enough space, it should work well.

Fr

Yes, 256GB on each hard drive is enough!

Aa

That is not very much. However, as long as you only do office things or install smaller games for in between, that should be enough.

Fr

Yes, thanks again!

Fr

Could you help me again?

Aa

Always my pleasure!
