I have a Windows 10 laptop where the hard drive (HDD) is broken. In my other laptop, I have an SSD with Windows 7. Can I now install it in the Windows 10 laptop?

If some ask, the Windows 10 laptop has better hardware.

I do not know your abilities - and that should be pretty much the case here.
Therefore, we can't possibly tell if you can do that.

It should be technically possible - provided that the laptop cases provide that.

Yes, that works if the SSD is 2.5 ".

Of course you can install them, only Windows7 is now installed on them. You should do so then best a Windows10 - new installation on this plate, with the Media Creation tool from Microsoft, with lösxchen the existing partitions and thus a completely clean reinstall. If you are asked there for a Seiennummer, you say: I have none, since the computer was already activated with Windows10, you get the serial number at the end of the installation of Microsoft automatically transferred again.

If you now install the existing hard drive in the other laptop, do exactly the same thing - you can even take the same installation disk and again enter no serial number. This computer had indeed an activated Windows7, and gets so, without extra costs an activated Windows10.

Installing and removing hard disks is not a problem, just because of the drivers

Thanks, I have already created a Windows 10 boot stick

A hard drive is not a camel - it does not need drivers.

Thank you

OK thanks

Achso, the hard drive with Windows 10 is broken. But no matter. I'll get there already

Thanks to all of you for your contributions. The conversion worked. But I first had to activate Legacy Boot in the Boot Menu (via F2). Then I downloaded the wireless driver on the phone and installed on the computer. Now I update all drivers via Avast Driver Updater.

Then the 2, Calculator ne ne SSD treat. They are not sooo expensive anymore.
