Can you install a 2.5 "HDD (laptop) without an adapter in a desktop?
Sure, who should stop you? 😉
If your computer has SATA…
That's fine
Is it bad if Windows is installed on my main SSD and on the new one I want to install (HDD) too?
No, you can continue to use this as a partition. Format it in front of it so that you have more space and remove Windows on the disk.
Thank you very much. How should I format the HDD? SSD out, HDD in, then format. Then HDD out again, then SSD in and HDD in?
No, you boot from your SSD as usual, so as it is set in your BIOS, ergo the boot sequence. You then open your disk management, delete the HDD completely and create a new partition, done.
Adapter? What kind of? For a 2½ "drive in the PC you need a carrier plate, which is usually used to install the SSDs in the PC.
SATA does not need any adapters for the connections. There are 2½ "and 3½" identical.

PS: the support plate is not necessarily needed if you e.g. Simply fiddled with a cable tie or something in the housing.
Thank you so much!
Thanks! ❤
The connections are normally the same (SATA). Just have to see if and how you can install them in your housing.
