So in a nutshell: I have a laptop that has worked fine so far, but now only boot into the BIOS when booting. What can this be and what can you do there?
Check in the BIOS, if your hard drive is still displayed. Sounds like the hard drive has given up its ghost.
The first and only entry in the bootmenu is the Windows Boot Manager
The trigger may be that your hard drive (s) are no longer recognized / can no longer be used with the OS to boot because of problems or if, for A setting in the BIOS has been changed (for example, an almost-boot option), which requires that all disks of yours support a particular technique that they do not support. If you've been in the BIOS for the last few days and changed something, then it's best to reset the settings in the BIOS
I do not know your BIOS. Can't say something bad. : - /
Have not changed anything but still reset everything, reboots into the BIOS
Boot HDD defective.
BIOS battery is empty.
Incorrect setting in boot order.
Very unlikely, because then the BIOS produces messages like:
"insert a proper boot device"
Unfortunately, not all BIOS (s) - what is the plural of BIOS?
the case. So it's definitely a possibility.
I do not know such BIOSse. It is also conceivable that the BIOS will find a boot system and then that is so broken that branches into the BIOS.
Whereby it is not clear, whether the questioner really means the BIOS or only the first pictures, as they are shown at power up.
That's true, though. A photo or something would help.
The plural should be BIOSs, from "basic input / output systems".
Look, thank you for the hint:-)
