My laptop actually has a very good configuration, but now I'm getting more and more certain that it doesn't show the desired performance that I expect from it.
Example 1)
I model at school with Autodesk Maya and the rendering of the 3D scene is faster for a classmate with a poorer processor, less RAM and an Intel Iris Grafics card than for my laptop (why?)
Example 2)
In the AlexiBexi video, the YouTuber shows how he plays smoothly on a MacBook Air 2020 in the Max graphics settings SIMS 4. For me it's just jerky.
What I tried is in the NVIDIA graphics settings to set the programs from which I expect higher performance (such as Unity, Adobe, Maya etc.) to the high performance settings. But that didn't change anything.
What can I do?
I have the following laptop:
Dell XPS 15 9570
Processor: Intel® Core ™ i7-8750H processor (hexa-core), 2.2 GHz with turbo boost up to 4.1 GHz, 9 MB cache, 45 watt TDP
RAM: 32 GB DDR4-2666 SO-DIMM, maximum expandable to 32 GB
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti graphics, 4096 MB GDDR5 VRAM
Display: 39.6 cm (15.6 inch) IPS Ultra-HD touch display with LED backlight, 3840 x 2160 pixels, (16: 9) widescreen
Power supply: 130W power supply
Hard disk: 1 TB SSD M.2 PCIe
Ever checked the SSD for errors or optimized the hard drive in Windows settings?
Yes, the SSD has no errors.
There are several ways to do this, e.g. B. Driver problems, malware on the PC, Windows is clogged, no optimal settings.
An outsider can certainly clarify all of this better than yourself.
Start the command prompt and enter the following: chkdsk C: / f / r / x
Should check again for errors and fix if necessary.
Did you put on "best" performance?
Yes
4GB is a little weak on the chest for rendering
Your friend has the advantage that the Igpu directly uses the RAM to perform arithmetic operations.
You probably measure a lot of buffers with the 4GB
Check out the task manager for the load on your ram and with GpuZ.
According to cinebench and render works, the Intel is faster than the 1050Ti, but it is better at gaming.
Well, I did 👍🏻
So you think I should switch to Intel Graphics for 3D modeling? I also have an Intel UHD Graphics 630 inside
It would be worth a try, if it does not get any better then the error lies somewhere else in the RAM usage
If your colleague has less RAM but more clock, it could also be because of it
Maybe your 32GB will be braked dual.
Is the system bought like this or did you add RAM?
System is bought like this
Then a bottleneck is unlikely
Render something in the software and check in the task manager whether everything is at 100% capacity.
