Reset Windows 10 - recovery environment not found - does anyone know this error?

I recently ordered a "new" used laptop through the "Notebookgalerie.de" portal. The same was delivered today. So far so good.

I was also able to operate the PC as normal, the pre-installed version of Win 10 Pro works perfectly - with one exception.

When I try to reset the computer to factory settings, I get the following error message: "Recovery environment not found. Insert your Windows installation or recovery media and restart the PC with the media."

Does anyone know this problem and can help me at the point?

The computer works as I said, but I still prefer to reset it to make sure that I start it "clean".

The laptop is a Dell Latitude E7270, 516 GB SSD, 16GB RAM.

I would be very thankful for help!

Away from the front

Most likely, the previous owner has already made the laptop flat (reset). Otherwise you would have his data on it. And who is so stupid should be locked away in the long run.

A restore point. So a date, time Is set when win clean is running. Do updates or you yourself. If the point is no longer / no longer, Pure Restoration is not possible.

This has a major difference compared to resetting, the personal data is retained when restoring. And that's why it is the worst case rescue if you have Win shot. But no cloud uses. But be stupid if you sell the computer.

What you and And Chip describe as the factory setting is not a common word, it throws both variants together as goulash.

Now the recovery point is missing because the previous owner has already set up… That's where it comes from

Insert your Windows installation or recovery media and restart the PC with the media. "

So if you do what he wants, put a fresh version on it, then he is clean. Or leave it because the probability that it has already been done is 99%.

Do you want to do it? The best thing is to download a fresh Win version and burn it to DVD. If you take the much praised USB stick version, you first have to change the start sequence when booting up, but DVD is "always" the first.

I don't know how it looks with the Win key, if you have it, then everything is fine.

Thank you for the fast answer! I'll see if I can make a DVD.
