I do not have a writing program anymore.
Get the free Libre Office or Open Office, where I prefer Libre, is better maintained and more frequent updates.
I have not missed MS Word for at least 15, maybe even 20 years and never.
If you have a Windows PC / laptop, you can also check first if the program WordPad is preinstalled. (Under Windows 10 it says WordPad TextNote, I think it looks a bit different than, for example, under Wndwos 7.)
This is a free and easy writing program from Microsoft.
You can format texts (size, color, font, list, paragraph, etc.), but also insert pictures.
If you do not have enough of the features, you can buy Word or use free alternatives like Open Office or Libre Office. Both are also available as a portable version. That You do not need to install it to use it. So you can try the programs once in peace.

I like to use Libre Office. At least the spreadsheet "Calc".
For word processing, I use something completely different. Something that is absolutely out of the question for you. Too specialized and too expensive.
But also Free Office looks very useful. It is limited to the normal basis functions. But this can already cover a lot.
For full functionality, there are the commercial versions of Softmaker Office Standard and Pro. This then represents a very good substitute for MS Office.
