And how + why is it? Missing mouse?
Mouse can also be replaced by a finger, the missing physical keyboard would probably make the most problems
I thought iPad with keyboard
So I would always use a laptop for office work.
Why?
Under iPadOS, there's only a slimmed down version of MS Office or IWork.
Say some functions are simply not available in the mobile version.
Furthermore, the processing of office documents via touch screen is noticeably fumbler and writing is therefore not exactly pleasant.
By itself, Microsoft Office suite documents can be conveniently created on both an iPad (with keyboard) and a laptop.
The touch on the iPad is very precise, especially with an Apple Pencil. IPadOS now accepts and supports more input devices. Among other things, most mice, either via Bluetooth or through a suitable cable.
In terms of the scope of the Microsoft Office suite, the variant for laptops is better than that of the iPad. Some functions are easier to find in the laptop version and work better. As far as I know, on an iPad, for example, you can't install older versions of Office.
When it comes to writing Word and PowerPoint documents alone, a laptop is usually the better choice. Nevertheless, the iPad has opened more and more in the last few years, so that other manufacturers can create their software and hardware for the iPad.
A look at the iWork suite is not wrong either, as it works more native with Apple products.
With keyboard
Is the iPad sufficient for documents for studying? Respectively. Will something be missing due to the missing functions?
Depends on the use cases, as I said, there are a variety of features that are not available in the mobile version.
Say, if you only work on very simple documents that only require the basic functions and can come to terms with fiddly controls on the touchscreen, then you will be able to work with the iPad and keyboard without any problem.
Otherwise, you will not be happy with this setup. 🙂
In my opinion, an iPad is perfect for studying. Especially when writing or drawing with apps such as notes, goodnotes and co. Shows the iPad its strengths. It always depends on the model. For studying, I would recommend either an iPad Air or an iPad Pro. Although you pay a lower price for the iPad Mini and the normal iPad, you lose functionality and have a smaller display.
Of course it also depends on the subject of study. For subjects whose content consists mainly of programming, 3D rendering or video editing, a normal laptop is still the better choice. But for the editing of documents, the iPad is ideal. Especially with the Smart Keyboard and the Apple Pencil, new possibilities are created to redesign documents. Try an iPad Air or iPad Pro best even in an Apple Store and convince yourself.
