Small burnt hole in the laptop battery?

Hi, I opened my laptop to change the hard drive and came across this small hole in the battery. Doesn't really look normal, and on further searching I also found a small bump in the back. What is it and how did it come about? Should i worry?
The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite Radius 14 L40W-C-115.

Hole in the battery itself:

Worries are absolutely justified.

The battery should be replaced… Don't know what happened there:-)

The most important thing is actually just whether the thing will fly around my ears or not

Di

Yes, it will blow your mind or burn down your apartment.

Then I just remove the battery to be on the safe side and wait for a new one.

Can you maybe tell me if this one is good for something? https://batteryempire.de/toshiba-akkus/1728-546639-akku-fur-toshiba-satellite-radius-14-l40w-3400-mah-green-cell.html?pk_campaign=12562250866&pk_kwd=&pk_source=google&pk_medium=cpc&pk_content=507043038701

The battery is extremely dangerous. Parts of the insulation are obviously already melted, the part can go up in a flash at any time.

Be careful when disposing in a garbage can!

Thanks!

When I look at the battery in the photo, does it look bloated if I'm not mistaken?

If so, you should definitely replace it. In extreme cases, the battery can explode and burn, and with a battery this size, that's no fun.

Unfortunately, you can no longer get new batteries in original quality for the L40W from the usual spare parts dealers, but replica batteries are still available on eBay: https://www.ebay.de/..._PrefLoc=3

Thanks! Where should I dispose of this? Probably not in the small box at the Aldi around the corner, right?

Is expanded. Where should I dispose of this?

Na

Ideally at a recycling center, they have the appropriate containers. Until you hand it in there, I would store it fireproof and protected from heat.

Great, thank you very much!
