Ext. Hard drive suddenly not working?

A few days ago, my external hard drive stopped working when I was transferring images to my laptop.

He suddenly stopped showing the pictures and after that my laptop could not recognize the hard drive due to a serious hardware error, and since I used it for hours and days it came as a complete surprise.

Since the hard drive is quite old, I wanted to pull the data down but didn't get the most important ones down.

I tried multiple cables, multiple USB ports and laptops. Strangely enough, the data is still displayed on smart TVs.

The hard drive is from seagate Expansion Drive.

Is there still hope to send in the device and pay money would also be fine. I want my pictures.

Does anyone have an idea what could suddenly be crazy?

With linux and DD copy you can get a few bytes out of a toast bread.

But to do this, the plate must be connected directly to the controller and you need a comparable second one, which you have to give for this. (for the system, not me)

For professional companies maybe, but it will be more expensive…

Media can fail. Always.

That's why you always have a backup for important things!

Find out about it for the future

Thank you for the info I will read myself for this.

Unfortunately I can't use the TV to move data on it 😒

I have definitely learned from it and, in addition to backups, will back up important data for me on two hard drives!

I think going to a professional company will be the way it is worth it.

a smart TV can't be used to transmit data by chance, can it?

Because they are displayed on it

Rather, let the plate "rest" every time you "scan" over it and what changes - you have your own flesh, it only loses data if you don't treat it "appropriately". Windows and the TV are too soft. Now you have to stop and think about a strategy with the cards you have for this game.

You can check the external hard drive with the Scandisk command. Defective disks can also be repaired with Scandisk.

But if the disk with Scandisk doesn't work at all, then it is seriously defective.

Ultimately, I probably deleted the play program from Windows on the hard drive because Linus recognizes all the pictures and it can be transferred without any ifs and buts.
