My grandfather has an old pc with windows 7 and has jz nen laptop with windows 10 fetched. But he wants to have office word on the new pc and not buy it
does it work?
If the old Word of Win7 compatible with Win10 and you can install it, then everything is fine.
If not, then you have three alternatives:
Buy office,
Subscribe to Office 365, costs about 10 euro per month,
or LibreOffice, running for free with Win10. This is a full-fledged alternative to Microsoft Office.
There's unfortunately no possibility to pay for a new MS Word, if it must be necessarily MS Word.
But there are very good alternatives. LibreOffice is a comprehensive office package that comes very close to MS Word Pro. As open source it is free and tells me even more in optics.

Which version of Office? https://praxistipps.chip.de/...ehts_51047
For older versions it can be different.
Unfortunately, but not completely compatible with the Office products! - I messed up so many documents with it!
LibreOffice can easily open Word documents and save them as such and that's what the question is.
And what do I do with my old MS-Office documents?
You can open it from LibreOffice if you go along the file path or open it with »Open with (LibreOffice)«.
If you want, you can additionally save the opened documents in LibreOffice format »odt.«. You can also save your Word documents as normal Word files.
