Spam calls. Are there any costs when using mailboxes?

That may sound strange now, but unfortunately I can't find anything on the Internet that would answer my question.

For several days now I have been receiving spam calls from abroad on my cell phone… Each time a different number, so I can't get on with blocking. Since I know absolutely no one abroad, it should be clear who is hiding behind it. Unfortunately, I took part in a dubious competition on the Internet last week, which made a serious impression, but obviously that was a huge mistake. Well… I screwed that up myself.

My problem is now… What happens if I can't refuse the call in time and the mailbox is activated? Is this a problem of my provider or will there be costs for me? I don't want to switch off the mailbox. If need be, I will of course do that, but is it necessary at all? It may well be that I'm driving myself crazy again.

Up until now I also thought that you only have to pay for calls like this if you call the number back, but I have now read on the Internet that there can be costs if you only answer the call. Is that correct?

I don't know anything about all this technical stuff regarding smartphones and PCs, notebooks, tablets, etc. It was different many years ago, but now… Yawning ignorance.

I would be very grateful if someone from you could write to me, if I have to pay attention to something now or if there's no danger as long as I don't take the call?

Thanks in advance for your help

P.S.: sorry… I always write too much. I don't know why, but I can't turn it off. Sorry

Re

Calling anybody to your mailbox is free for you. Only your call to eavesdrop could cost something (depending on your tariff).
