Hello,
I wanted to install a PC game on my gaming laptop today. It's an older Star Trek Legacy to be precise, and it's still installed from CD-ROM. Setup starts, but after a short time the message appears: The wizard was interrupted before Star Trek Legacy could be fully installed.
I have already tried to install the components individually, but without success (only ISScript11 could be installed).
I ran the setup in compatibility mode and as administrator, but to no avail.
I'm a bit surprised because my previous gaming laptop (also Win 10) didn't have any problems that couldn't be solved with the compatibility mode.
Does somebody has any idea?
PS: The drivers are all up to date
These games have copy protection that is not Windows 10 compatible.
Either you get a version with the latest DRM or no DRM at all - or you build a RetroPC.
But it worked with my previous gaming PC…
Yes and?
This is a zero statement, is irrelevant and does not help.
It doesn't work NOW and you got the most likely answer.
Or you can install it under Windows XP or Windows 98 virtual machine, and copy it from virtual machine to Windows 10.
Sounds pretty good. How would I do that?
So you first download Windows 98: https://winworldpc.com/product/windows-98/98-second-edition
And if you download Windows 98, you can also download VirtualBox, because you will need it: https://www.virtualbox.org/...albox.org/
That would now be a virtual RetroPC.
There arises with me z. B. The question of whether and how well the VooDoo or Direct3D can implement hardware-accelerated.
Has anything changed over the past few years? Haven't tried it in a long time.
Soo guys found out.
So, I installed the game on my work PC (Win10) and the Ultimate Universe 2.2 mod there too. Then I dragged the folder onto my gaming PC and with the help of the Mod Launcher I was actually able to play the game without restrictions. (But only with the help of the launcher, otherwise there will be an error message).
Nevertheless, thank you PrincPersia for your help!
