A while ago I was still able to play The Sims 4 with my laptop, which only has 1.7 GHz, but as expected it was overwhelmed after a short time (slowed down, screen started to rake) Spice up your laptop with an external memory or should I buy a real gaming PC? Here is the data from the laptop: Intel R Core TM i3- 4005U, (1.7 Ghz, 3MB L3 Cache) Intel R HD Graphics 4400, up to 1792 MB Dynamic, Video Memory 4GB DDR3, 500GB HDD
No, you can't play sims 4 with it, the i3 is far too bad and you only have 4GB RAM. But with new 400 euro laptops with Ryzen CPU's you can. You don't need a gaming laptop for Sims.
Upgrading a laptop is generally difficult.
Your hardware is also "not the best".
I would tend to a new PC, but the best tower, because you can upgrade and upgrade.
Can you forget an SSD that's the only thing you can do.
You don't need that much for SIMS4.
However, an Intel system with iGPU (internal graphics chip) is bad.
An AMD system with Ryzen CPU and Internet VEGA graphics is more than sufficient.
Hereby SIMS 4 including all mods and CCs runs very smoothly.
So a notebook is worth around 400-450 euro.
OR
A PC system for approx. 350 euro + monitor, keyboard, mouse and loudspeaker.
No you can't expand your notebook sensibly.
