Gaming Monitor with PC FPS?

I was thinking for a long time whether gaming PC or notebook - in the end it was the PC.

I have put together the following PC:

Ryzen 5 2600x

16GB DDR4 RAM 3000mhz

240GB SSD

RX 590 8GB

MSI B450 Gaming Plus, AMD B450

If you're thinking about the RX 590 or the RTX 2070 8GB Palit Dual V1, the extra charge would have been minimal.

A colleague said I should buy an AMD GPU because I have a monitor with Freesync and this has 75 Hz. I could only play with 75 FPS games anyway and there would be no sense for a superclass GPU to spend 140 euro more for the RTX 2070

I own the monitor. So my monitor is too bad, can I really only have 75 FPS with the 75Hz monitor?

Would like to take the RTX 2070 and wanted the whole in 2560x1440 games. But if the GPU is slowed down by the display of my monitor then it makes little sense to take such a GPU.

I'm very grateful for your answers.

The monitor is ok. Many games end up at 60 FPS. I would take the AMD GPU - more power for less money. The RTX 2070 is equal to the RX 590 on the performance, but is cheaper.

You can only play a maximum of 75Hz on a 75Hz monitor, but the FPS in the game can be higher if CPU + GPU can do it.

In 1440p, the RX 590 will be hard to come by on 75FPS in modern AAA games, though, as you'll have to screw things up at the controls.

But since you have Freesync, the picture is still fluid, even with 50 FPS. Since Nvidia should support Adaptive Sync in the future, one could think about the stronger RTX 2070. And why not Vega 56/64?

The RTX 2070 is about 50% faster than the RX590:

Thank you for your detailed reply. The extra charge for the Vega 64 is just as high as for the RTX 2070 and it cuts much worse, that's why I decided against the.

So will it only be possible with the RX 590 in 1440p when I turn the graphics down?

Habs grad also seen… But is also more than twice as expensive ^^

The monitor will slow down your graphics card only to a limited extent. In games where you would like to have a lot of FPS, you will also have the 75 FPS +, but your monitor will display only 75 frames per second. In WQHD, the RX590 is likely to jerk a bit if you play very demanding titles, the RTX 2070 will not have any problems. You should also look at the RTX 2060 and the Vega graphics cards.
