Yes, only the CPU works. The GPU is sometimes used briefly when Geforce Exp. Is open. When I open a program, I see exactly how much it claims. OW e.g. Uses only a small part of the CPU and a part of the main memory.
When you open the Task Manager, please click on the "Processes" tab. Click in the column header "CPU" 1-2 times until the arrow is down. This will sort the list in descending order.
