Graphics card does not want to work and still gets hot?

I have a gaming laptop (GTX 1060, Intel i7 7th gen., 16gb ram). If I start Overwatch it jerky and has just 20fps at the highest setting. First thought the driver would need to be updated or the power adapter connected, but that was not it. According to the Task Manager, the GPU is used to 0% although it gets 80 degrees C. Hot. Only the CPU is used by the programs (and that is not particularly stressed even though it is 75 degrees C. Hot) Have already rumprobiert with the nvidia system control but also without luck. Can someone help me get the GPU to work or at least find out where the whole performance is going? She seems to work on the temperature after all, only nowhere where she should or where the Task Manager could detect it.

Can it be that your Intel HD graphics currently does not charge everything the graphics chip?

Br

That's what I thought, but then the temp. Yes of both would not rise so much. And putting priority on the GPU has not changed anything. If only the CPU works, then I would like to know how I can change that.

Unfortunately, I do not know that exactly with laptops, but can you see exactly when the taskmdr which GPU is working?

Br

Yes, only the CPU works. The GPU is sometimes used briefly when Geforce Exp. Is open. When I open a program, I see exactly how much it claims. OW e.g. Uses only a small part of the CPU and a part of the main memory.

When you open the Task Manager, please click on the "Processes" tab. Click in the column header "CPU" 1-2 times until the arrow is down. This will sort the list in descending order. So you see at the top, which processes slow down your system. A right-click on it and the selection "Search online" opens the search engine Bing with corresponding results. This makes it easy to identify the processes.

For more information, you should install MSI Afterburner and see the performance during the game.

Already clear, however, the task manager does not indicate any utilization. According to the TM, the GPU does not work at all and the CPU is only partially utilized. Nevertheless, both are very hot and I wanted to know why that could be. Another user has already pointed out that my PC vlt. A security breach by Intel could have fallen prey to.

A vulnerability can only be exploited with the help of a program. And you should recognize this program in the task manager.

The known vulnerabilities Meltdown, Specter and Foreshadow, which were alluded to here, have not been proven to be exploited. Nevertheless, patches have been distributed in the past, which can slow down a PC by 2 to 8 percent according to Intel. The local virus protection programs also make it highly unlikely that these gaps will be exploited. So I do not think that's what it's all about.

Please investigate your active processes. Maybe there's a useful hint.
